Welcome! This is the “static” portfolio of Arjay Aquino(me). I’m a Front-end developer focusing on Flash, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. This “static” portfolio showcases the work I’ve done for clients or as I like to call them, friends.
I turn imaginations in to reality. Whether it is a project request from a client/friend or just making something for fun, I will build it from the ground up in to something that is worth recognition.
More specifically, my expertise lies in website design and development with a CMS, Flash website design and development or building Flash applications that can be part of any medium.
I am very passionate about what I do, and it will show with the work I’ve done. If you would like to know more, feel free to contact me.
I ensure the methods I use are the latest and are the most suited for the project. I aim for innovation when I implement methods, whether it is Flash and Actionscript or other web development tools. I am relentless when it comes to staying on top of current technologies so that I will exceed all expectations.
My current skills are in: Flash Actionscript 3/2, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and Wordpress.
I plan to get more proficient with: PHP and Java.
client: City Wide Security
launched: August 2010
role: Designer and Developer
methods: HTML, CSS, Wordpress, Javascript(jQuery), and Flash
link: www.cwsecurity.ca
Another redesign with a good opportunity at really impressing the client. The goal again was to keep it simple, make information easy to find and have a design that is easy on the eyes.
client: ADOIL
launched: November 2009
role: Designer and Developer
methods: HTML, CSS, Wordpress and Javascript(jQuery)
link: www.adoil.net
ADOIL needed a redesign of their website so I was asked to do it. The product that they provide has a lot to do with the country side so I designed it with that in mind. It also had to be simple and get to the point. I used Wordpress as the CMS because it is really easy for the Client to use and it fulfilled all the needs of the site.
client: JOI Media
launched: August 2009
role: Developer
methods: Flash/ActionScript 3, Papervision
link: http://dev.joimedia.com/affliction/
My friend who is a co-founder at JOI Media ask me to help them out with a demo that they wanted to make for an Affliction fight which featured Fedor. Unfortunately that fight was canceled and the site was never launched. There were about 5 of us working on it. We had 2 designers/artists, an AfterEffects animator and a 3D guy, I was the developer. After the concept was decided and the design was finished, I started building it using Flash and Papervision for the 3D effect. This was a good learning experience because it was the first project that I used Papervision on.
client: Whiz Easy
launched: January 2009
role: Designer and Developer
methods: HTML, CSS, Joomla! and Flash/ActionScript 3
link: www.whizeasy.com
I got a request to redo the whizeasy website, which I had made before. They wanted a fresh new look, an easy way to update the content and upgraded shopping option. For the design I wanted to use the basic color scheme we had in the logo(blue and green) so I came up with the sky and grass combo. For development, I knew I had to use a CMS, I ended up picking Joomla! It worked great for me, I learned a lot while doing it and it enabled me to accomplish good things for the client.
client: Upper Class Recordings
launched: December 2008
role: Designer and Developer
methods: Flash/ActionScript 3, XML, XSLT, and PHP
link: www.cadenceweaponmusic.ca
This website’s purpose is to allow fans of the artist to pay whatever amount they want for the album and they will be able to download it. I didn’t want a boring website and I wanted to use the Album art that they provided me. My solution was to use Flash for the whole site. This enabled me to do more things with the layout and interactivity. I also made it so the client can track all the fans that downloaded for free, which I used PHP for.
client: Creation Body Piercing
launched: May 2008
role: Developer
methods: Flash/ActionScript 2 and XML
link: www.creationbodypiercing.ca
Craig also came up with this sweet website design for the Tattoo shop. We were on the same page, we knew that this had to be done in Flash to maximize the full potential of the design. I was up for it, I knew I could pull it off and learn a lot from it. I coded it from the ground up, using object oriented approach with AS2 to make the whole process flow better. The result is a website that fits in with the Tattoo shop’s personality.
client: EMI Music
launched: December 2007
role: Developer
methods: Flash/ActionScript 2 and XML
link: www.alphagalates.com
My friend Craig Kuzmich designed this website for Alpha Galates. I was given the task of developing it. I made sure that the website will function just as well as the design. EMI has its own CMS that I used to get the data for the website, including the guestbook at the bottom. There was a lot of work communicating with ASP, which I learned from. Overall a good experience and got better with ActionScript .
client: Upper Class Recordings
launched: December 2007
role: Designer and Developer
methods: HTML, CSS, Flash/ActionScript 2, XML and Zencart
Upper Class came to me to make them a new website. The basic look of the site was designed already, but I designed the rest of the site. This one I built without using a CMS, so I guess you can say it was more “fun” to make. I got better with HTML and CSS with this project and used some different methods of displaying flash on the page. They also wanted to use Zencart for the online shopping option, so I learned that as well.
